The Bay Area office located in Concord is looking for an experienced soils technician to help us with a wide variety of grading and foundation projects. We have numerous large grading projects breaking this summer to complement our other construction projects.



Job Responsibilities

• 
  
• Perform field testing.
  
• Perform laboratory testing.
  
• Operate a nuclear densometer.
  
• Use and maintain scientific testing equipment.
  
• Process test data using computer software.
  
• Communicate test progress and present test results.
  
• Supervise and review the work of lower level field and lab technicians.
  
• Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
  
• Follow Shannon & Wilsons Quality Assurance policy.
  
• Follow and promote Shannon and Wilsons Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  
  Qualifications
  • 
    
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
    
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a field and/or lab technician.
    
  • Proficient in mathematics, including Algebra.
    
  • Field and construction observation experience
    
  • Current Nuclear Gage Safety and Transport Training*
    
  • Current certifications in soils, concrete, and asphalt testing (WAQTC, ACI and NICET)*
    
  • Current HAZWOPER certification*
    
  • Must produce accurate field notes and sketches to document work.
    
    
    *Arrangements and payment for training will be made for the successful applicant after their hire date.
    
    
    Typically, depending on an applicants education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, a Senior-Level Field/Lab Technician typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Senior Technical Services level.
