Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervised and evaluated by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, the
Behavior Technician provides one-to-one or group services to
student(s) with academic needs and behavioral
challenges, in-home and/or in-school, utilizing the principles of
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Working directly with students using the principles of Applied
Behavior Analysis to reduce challenging behaviors (i.e. aggression,
spitting, self-injury, etc.) and increase adaptive behaviors (i.e.
functional communication, social skills, self-help skills, academic
skills, etc.)
- Directly implementing treatment plans including Behavior
Intervention Plans
- Collaborating with staff and families on the implementation of
treatment plans
- Collecting data as designed by the Clinical Supervisor
- Supporting teachers and classroom aides with managing
challenging behaviors
- Creating materials necessary for targeting academic,
behavioral, and social goals
- Providing support with self-help skills; this may include, but
is not limited to, handwashing, feeding, and dressing
- In the school setting, providing toileting support for
students; this may include, but is not limited to, taking students
to the restroom, changing diapers, changing of clothes, and
maintaining overall hygiene by cleaning/wiping
- In the school setting, providing overall support to the
classroom teacher; this may include, but is not limited to,
creating/making materials for students in the classroom,
photocopying materials, and maintaining the order of the
classroom
- Attending and actively participating in group supervision
meetings and other trainings as required
- Maintaining the overall safety of the student(s)
- Annually participating and successfully completing training in
crisis intervention, to include verbal de-escalation techniques and
emergency procedures/physical hands-on techniques
- Implementing crisis interventions when needed
- Fingerprint background clearance
- Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
- Employment is contingent upon being vaccinated and boosted
(when eligible) against COVID-19 and related variants. Legal COVID
vaccination exemptions (i.e., for disability or religious beliefs
or practices) in compliance with applicable law will be considered
for unvaccinated individuals#SPG-B2
