General Summary:

The Manager of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for all aspects of the external financial statement review process and audit process by partnering with our external auditors and parent company counterparts. The Manager Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting will also play a key role in the review of weekly and monthly internal financial reports and analysis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the annual audit and quarterly review process with external auditors
  • Draft quarterly and annual financial statements including footnote disclosures
  • Subject Matter Expert for technical GAAP requirements
  • Ensure technical accounting issues are identified and addressed
  • Research new accounting standards and lead implementation of new standards

  • Partner with internal and external tax advisors on quarterly and annual tax provisions and tax compliance
  • Oversee ongoing debt compliance and governance
  • Oversee the analysis of various company reserves which require management judgment
  • Facilitate review and variance analysis between the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis ("FP&A") teams for the following work products:
  • Monthly internal financial statements and reporting package
  • MD&A disclosure in the quarterly reviewed financial statements and annual audited financial statements

  • Participate and lead review of internal controls and procedures as needed
  • Prepare and maintain corporate accounting policies
  • Assist with other Ad-Hoc Accounting and Finance needs or projects

Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Technical Skills: Possess strong technical Accounting skills
  • Analytic Skills: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results
  • Problem Solving & Decision Quality: Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Relationship Management: Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Management, Accounting or other related field; CPA required
  • 3-5 years experience of audit and financial reporting at a large accounting firm (e.g. Big-4)
  • 2+ years of retail industry experience - ideally with a publicly traded company
  • Expertise with the Microsoft suite of products - Excel, MS Word, Access
  • Experience with Great Plains highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills; as well as verbal and written communications skills
