Job Description:
Location(s): This is primarily a remote position. If located
close to an Elevance Health office location, you may be required to
go into the office up to three times per month. This position will
serve as a Managing Associate General Counsel to CarelonRx, a
pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) owned by Elevance Health.
Responsible for directing the legal functions of assigned areas and
managing a team of attorneys and contract managers who provide
legal support for clients and growth. Additionally, this position
is responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations for
actions. Develops and executes initiatives and projects in response
to clients overall objectives and needs. Focus of work is on large
scale and/or high financial level projects with broad department
and/or organizational impact and moderate level of risk. Works as a
strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders. How
You Will Make an Impact: Primary duties may include, but are not
limited to:
- Provide legal support in the PBM client contracting process and
manage associated legal risks.
- Develop responses and support for RFP activity and mitigate
identified legal and business risks.
- Accomplishes results through assigned legal staff. Develops
assigned staff to ensure their individual effectiveness.
- Provides guidance and leadership on more complex legal issues
in which the analysis of situations and/or facts require an
in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Serves as a resource for other attorneys and contract managers
as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical
and tactical issues.
- Sets objectives for assigned legal team that align with the
clients and the company's business strategy.
- Provides concise and timely briefings to senior level business
and upper-level legal management.
- Manages the staffs work-load.
- Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties, including a
strong handle on all aspects of pharmaceutical benefit management,
addressing RFPs and negotiating complex client PBM Agreements, with
sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and
objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand.
- Determines overall methods and procedures on new assignments
and may coordinate legal projects.
- Contributes to overall results of IngenioRx.
- Uses professional legal concepts and principles to contribute
to development of company's concepts and principles and to achieve
objectives in creative and effective ways.
- May possess deep technical knowledge or broader scope of
knowledge.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively assess and mitigate
risk on all legal initiatives and projects of assigned staff.
- Reports to upper management any identified business exposure
and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques being
utilized.
- Hires, trains, coaches, counsels and evaluates the performance
of direct reports. Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a JD, current license to practice law and minimum of 9
years specific PBM industry legal experience supporting complex
client side, post licensure, experience in managing a staff,
department budget and outside counsel; or any combination of
education and experience, which would provide an equivalent
background. Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:
- Detailed oriented, client focused and able to work in a
fast-paced environment. For candidates working in person or
remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this
specific position is $184,400 to $331,920. Locations: California;
Colorado; Nevada; Washington State; Jersey City, NJ; New York City,
NY; Ithaca, NY and Westchester County, NY In addition to your
