Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: King City, CA Agency: Ambition 24Hours Pay: $1,980 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 17 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Nights Location: King City, California Department: Medical-Surgical / Skilled Nursing Facility Size: 50 149 beds (119-bed acute care hospital) Job Type: 13-week contract | Rapid response / crisis Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM | 12-hour shifts (3x12) Position overview The Med/Surg Registered Nurse Nights provides comprehensive nursing care to adult and non-critical pediatric patients on a combined medical-surgical and skilled nursing service in a community hospital setting. This rapid response assignment is ideal for experienced med/surg nurses who are comfortable working night shifts, floating to skilled nursing, and managing variable census and acuity. Key responsibilities Deliver safe, evidence-based medical-surgical nursing care to adult and non-critical pediatric patients during night shifts. Float between the Med/Surg Unit and Skilled Nursing Department as required based on census and staffing needs. Perform ongoing assessments, monitor vital signs, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly. Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders and facility protocols. Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and care plans. Collaborate with physicians, case management, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care and safe discharge planning. Support falls prevention, pressure injury prevention, and other patient safety initiatives on the unit. Required qualifications Active California RN license at time of submission. Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in an acute care setting. Cerner EMR experience (required). Current ACLS and PALS certifications with ability to care for stable, non-critical pediatric patients. Flexibility to float between Med/Surg and Skilled Nursing and to work all scheduled night shifts for the duration of the contract. Core competencies Medical-surgical nursing expertise, including adult and post-surgical care, chronic disease management, and basic telemetry as applicable. Safe care of non-critical pediatric patients in a mixed-acuity environment. Skilled nursing support, including rehabilitation-focused and long-stay patient care when floated. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a high-demand, night-shift environment. Accurate documentation and clear communication using Cerner EMR and standardized handoff tools. Additional assignment details Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract per facility policy. Overtime and holiday coverage follow facility billing and staffing guidelines; holiday shifts may be required. Local housing options may be limited; travelers should plan accommodations in advance.
