Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in
the CVICU. The patient population includes those with acute
myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, pulmonary
embolism, cardiomyopathy, and complex post-cardiac catheterization
cases. Care involves managing patients with IABPs, Impella devices,
and those recovering from cardiac surgery such as CABG. Additional
cases may include AAA vascular cases, thoracotomies, and
pneumonectomies. The average length of stay for heart patients is 1
to 2 days. The unit cares for approximately 5 heart patients per
week. There are 12 beds in the unit, organized into 2 pods.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:1 or 1:2, depending on patient acuity
and census. Floating will occur as needed within the same scope of
practice. Typically, weekend shifts are every other weekend. Any
color scrubs are acceptable, but jeans are not permitted. Further
