Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of CVICU experience License: Current California license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: - Current California license at the time of submission - BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications Description: The position is for a registered nurse specializing in cardiovascular intensive care. The patient population includes acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and cardiomyopathy cases. You will care for complex post-cath lab patients, including some requiring intra-aortic balloon pumps and Impella devices. Cardiac surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafting, vascular cases, thoracotomies, and pneumonectomies will be part of the responsibilities. The average length of stay for heart patients is typically 1 to 2 days. The unit typically handles approximately five heart surgeries a week. Nurse-to-patient ratios are either 1:1 or 1:2, depending on patient acuity and census, as mandated by state regulations. You may be required to float within the same scope of skill as needed. The scheduling typically involves every other weekend. Any colored scrubs are acceptable, but jeans are not allowed.
