The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, ANA's Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.Education:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing RequiredExperience:
  • 6 Months Nursing - Acute Care Preferred
  • 2000 hours Nursing - Cardiac Care (ICU, CCU, Telemetry) Must be Obtained within last 2 years - Core RequirementCertifications/Licensures:
    • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing Required
    • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
    • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Core Requirement
    • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Required prior to completion of orientation to the assigned area
    • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018) Required
    • Nursing - Stroke/TIA Patient Experience Must be Obtained within 12 months of hire - Non-core Requirement
    • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale - No Issuing Agency Certification - Achieved by the end of orientation to the assigned area Required
    • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale - No Issuing Agency -Competency - Successful completion on an annual basis Required
    • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Internal Candidates Must Pass Prior to Applying for Position (must be proctored in Human Resources) - RequiredSkills:Core:
      • Demonstrates competency in the management and regulation of selected vasoactive and antiarrhythmic agents.
      • Demonstrate competency in the management and discharge of Observation patients.
      • Demonstrates competency in the care and management of acute stroke patients.
