Director/Sr. Director, Business Development, Therapeutics Location Cerus US Department 6105 - Sales Facilitate the expansion of sales and product pipeline opportunities and the development of Therapeutics Business strategy Facilitate the expansion of sales and product pipeline opportunities and the development of Therapeutics Business strategy. Heavy involvement in opportunity identification/ assessment, in-licensing of new technology, and the management of commercialization of therapeutics products globally. Focus on sales enablement, strategic planning, in-licensing, organizational engagement, corporate partner agreements and relationship management, and potentially M&A activities. Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy, oversee the sourcing and structuring of business partnerships, and negotiate deals to enable growth opportunities:
    • Source opportunities for non-traditional product placement of products within Cerus' Therapeutics Portfolio, and the use of Cerus technology
    • Partner with US and international organizations on the generation and revision of bleeding control, patient treatment and transfusion protocols that reflect earlier availability of fibrinogen in the form of Cerus' Pathogen Reduced Cryoprecipitated Fibrinogen Complex.
    • Partner with US and international organizations on the generation and revision of bleeding control, patient treatment and transfusion protocols that reflect use of Cerus' Pathogen Reduced Plasma, Cryoprecipitate Reduced.
    • Work across NGOs, trade groups, and industry to place a spotlight on hemorrhage, equity-in-care across demographics and the need for better bleeding control options
    • Partner with key institutions and clinicians on requests for IIS/ Phase IV studies.
    • Form partnerships with key trauma and bleeding control organizations (e.g., THOR, Stop the Bleed)
    • Structure, draft, and lead negotiations both independently and in collaboration and other Therapeutics and cross-functional partners.
    • Partner with groups and organizations to gather data on blood utilization and assess opportunities to improve blood handling.
      • Focus on assessing opportunities to evaluate block chain style management, data driven inventory management, study blood utilization as product changes are made to treatment protocols, etc.
      • Act as primary liaison-and partner with-companies that have a non-competitive presence in the bleeding control place.
      • Evaluate opportunities to bring other the products of other companies into Cerus' portfolio.
      • From a top-down perspective, analyze the company's competitive set of opportunities to accelerate adoption Cerus Therapeutics solution:
        • In depth understanding of untapped customer segments, brand value propositions, relevant and tangential supply chains, and existing regulations.
        • Create situation analyses, detailing distribution channels, payment methods, and all other circumstances that involve purchasing decisions from a consumer perspective.
        • Identify the existing players in the market where Cerus is competing or will compete in future and detail competitor value propositions, advantages/disadvantages, and financial economics.
        • From a bottom-up perspective, accelerate adoption of Cerus Therapeutics solutions:
          • Negotiate NDAs, MTAs, and development and commercialization agreements to progress business relationships.
          • Support the management of current and future company alliances/partnerships and foster the growth of them.
          • Understand and refine the product pipeline / go-to-market strategy, key customer targets, and framework for evaluating targets.
          • Progress pipeline development by evaluating best opportunities based on service fit for each customer.
          • Create stakeholder maps of prospective customers; identify and build relationships with customers' key decision makers, leveraging the executive team when appropriate. --Qualifications:
            • Substantial experience and existing relationships within bleeding control and/ or transfusion medicine required.
            • Seven to ten years in a senior role in business and/or corporate development and/or comparable experience.
            • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, or the Life-Sciences sector; Graduate degree in medicine (MD/DO), business, policy or hospital administration preferred.
            • Excellent communication and writing skills, including strong ability to create and present customer facing presentations, and ability to communicate with science and medical teams.
            • Experience with corporate partnerships.
            • Demonstrated initiative and creativity in the management of programs and/or execution of deals.
            • Ability to negotiate, change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others to achieve results.
            • Experience with alliance management and project management.
            • Knowledge of-or ability to learn-Industry's complex regulatory requirements (Code of Federal Regulations "CFR" Title 21 compliance, AABB Standards, hospital accreditation) and a commitment to competing on the highest ethical level.
            • Expertise in negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts, working closely with legal.
            • Financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic planning experience. Global Headquarters:
