Company: P&C / Life / Health Insurance, Concord, CA Remarks: Company has an immediate need for a full-time Chief Financial Officer. The position will report to our headquarter office located in Concord, CA. Athens offices are open for business Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The CFO will report to the President, be a part of the Executive Management team, and will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility of planning, implementing and controlling the financial-related activities of the company. This position will also have direct responsibility over the management of accounting, corporate compliance, information technology, mail center and property management functions of the business. This position is responsible for driving consistently high performance, quality, best practices and customer service within their area of control. An ideal candidate is self-motivated, collaborative, driven by success and will fit into Athens' friendly and family-oriented culture.-- PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Reports financial status by developing forecasts; reporting results; analyzing variances; developing improvements.
  • Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to the company's leadership team.
  • Establishes finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
  • Develops organizational prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, customer pricing strategies and systems enhancement; accumulating capital to fund expansion.
  • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; developing action plans.
  • Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Maximizes return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities; maintaining relationships with the investment community.
  • Collaborate with the President to implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned with the company's core mission and vision.
  • Provides ongoing training, mentoring, development and feedback to ensure the highest levels of performance for direct reports.
  • Develops direct management team to ensure succession plan and talent retention. Identifies and promotes opportunities for exposure and ensure continuous development of a diverse team.
  • Establish practices that promote and evolve the company culture and vision.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications throughout the entire organization to ensure that the organizational goals and expectations are understood and practiced by all.
  • Partner with HR to identify, recruit and hire high-quality staff where needs are identified in the organization to achieve the Company's corporate goals and strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and organizational structure that maximizes efficiencies and provides opportunities for growth.
  • As a part of the Executive Team, establish a vision that inspires passion and engagement in our team members.
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations or business deals that the company may enter. Must be experienced with contract review.
  • As a 401(k)-plan investment committee member, decide on investment strategies and plan design. ACCOUNTABILITIES Supervisory Responsibilities Supervising, scheduling, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work of assigned staff are responsibilities for supervisory positions.--
    • Vice President Information Technology, Director Claims Operations & Compliance, Accounting Manager, Administrative Services Supervisor and Administrative Services Lead. Fiscal Responsibilities
      • Provides timely financial reporting each month
      • Develops operating budgets linked to strategic plan and sales forecasts
      • Review and approve direct report's monthly expense reports
      • Develops and manages annual Corporate budget
      • Salary administration
      • Responsible for administration of Corporate Disaster Recovery Plan
      • Facilitates Corporate SSAE 16 Audits
      • Engaged in tax planning and works closely with corporate tax advisors
      • Provides accurate and conservative financial forecasting
      • Prepares reconciliation of all financial related documents - bank statements, month end closing, etc.
      • Determine adequate insurance requirements, responsible for annual preparation of insurance renewals and maintains relationships with corporate insurance providers ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
        • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
        • MBA or CPA are preferred; but not required
        • Fifteen years' experience in Finance
        • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a CFO or Controller
        • Prior experience with Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions is preferred
        • Prior experience with Corporate Finance and Financing Mechanisms is preferred
        • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
          • Microsoft Great Plains preferred or other financial management software
          • Must be flexible, adaptable, and positive

          • Valid Driver's license and availability for local travel
