term. About the role: Samsara’s Fleet Safety team is seeking an
experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our growing
team. As a Senior Staff Engineer at Samsara, you will be a
technical leader that brings new ideas and expertise to guide the
team’s technical architecture to enable increasingly demanding
features and customer use cases. Your expertise will be essential
in ensuring that Samsara continues to be at the leading edge of
safety, sustainability, and efficiency for the world of physical
operations. This is a hands-on role where you will work on the most
demanding, critical projects for Samsara’s customers alongside
other highly-skilled Samsara engineers. Samsara’s Fleet Safety team
builds a comprehensive solution utilizing Samsara’s GPS Fleet
Tracking and AI Dash Cam hardware products to improve driver safety
using AI and data analysis to create web and mobile workflows,
provide real-time driver feedback, and streamline video-based
coaching. Samsara customers depend on these features to create
safety programs that dramatically improve driver safety, reward
safe driving practices, and build trust by exonerating drivers in
no-fault accidents. This is a remote position open to candidates

level-up Samsara’s application of emerging AI technologies and set
the pace for development, aiding the team in finding clever ways to
simplify problems • You understand not just the technical and
product capabilities but also the nuances of the businesses they
support. You help to understand and balance conflicting stakeholder
objectives while simultaneously building trust and demonstrating
empathy with their customers’ needs. • You lead the definition,
design, architecture quality, implementation, and delivery of the
most advanced, most difficult, most cross-cutting, and/or most
ambiguous challenges spanning across our fleet safety orgnazition
to enable fast-paced product innovation. You may own one or more
critical components. • You ensure that the organizations with
Samsara are aligned to a coherent technical vision and deliver
systems that fit well together. • You exert influence over multiple
teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness. You hold
peers and teams to a high bar. • You are considered an authority on
technical issues by both the technical and business communities and
are frequently consulted when making difficult trade-off decisions.
You also drive awareness about the impact and consequences of
technical decisions on the business. • You demonstrate significant
innovation, creativity, and judgment when solving challenging
problems. • You identify future skills needed across your
organization and advocate for the development and/or acquisition of
those skills to senior leaders. You scout top talent and recruit
them to Samsara. • You actively mentor staff level engineers. You

offices. Minimum requirements for the role: • Bachelors Degree in
Computer Science/Engineering. • 15 years of experience as a
software engineer building customer-facing applications with at
least 8 of those years in an architect or leadership role and 6
years of experience leading cross-organization projects. •
Entrepreneurial experience. • Stellar programming/coding
fundamentals. • Expertise working on large-scale enterprise
software applications. An ideal candidate also has: • Masters
degree or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering. • Experience in
applying Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence to real-world
applications. • Technical mastery in Go, Python, JavaScript,
TypeScript, C/C++, or other similar languages.
