Description
As an Automation Engineering Intern, you will with hand in hand with automation engineers to develop, implement, monitor, and improve automation equipment and automated manufacturing lines. You will lead an automation project focused on improvement of an existing process as well as assist in other automation projects using a mix of the following: 3D simulation modeling, Robot programming/editing, mechanical design upgrades, 3D modeling of components, project management, process improvement, installation, etc. Responsibilities: While working under the direction of an engineer you will be involved with a mix of:

  • Learn and understand the process flow of automated manufacturing lines
  • Lead a project to improve an automated manufacturing line or manufacturing cell within an automated manufacturing line
  • Identify process/equipment and procedural opportunities to improve performance.
  • Develop a simulation model accurately representing the automated lines and its capabilities
  • Developing hardware and tooling as well as testing new assemblies to improve overall process of automation equipment
  • Run experiments to analyze the lines/cells to identify areas for improvement Hours of work: 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm Education and Experience: -
    • Enrolled in BSIE or BSME or Mechatronics Engineering
    • GPA of 3.2 or above Required Skills:
      • "Hands on" experience solving problems
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
      • Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
      • Results-oriented Desired Skills:
        • Prior automation related internship
        • AutoCAD experience
        • 3D Modeling experience -
        • FEA and Simulation programing
        • Experience with logistics system simulation software
        • Familiarity with coding (PLC, robot, or software)
        • Familiar with industrial automation and design
        • Experience dealing with suppliers
